Clean Burning

Natural gas homes are cleaner homes. a home with natural gas appliances produces approximately 45 percent less carbon dioxide than a home with comparable electric appliances.

Gas is Efficient

Natural gas is three times more efficient than electricity. About 90 percent of the natural gas delivered to customers is useful energy. In contrast, less than 30 percent of the energy converted into electricity reaches customers.

Domestic Gas

Natural gas is a domestic fuel. About 97 percent of our natural gas comes from North America - which helps lower our dependence on foreign oil and creates jobs for Americans. We have enough domestic natural gas to fuel our energy needs for hundreds of years.

The Marcellus Shale has surpassed the Haynesville Shale as the top producing shale play. The Marcellus Shale has reached a production rate above 7 Bcf per day due to pipeline expansion and continued drilling. The Marcellus Shale is now the largest gas producing play in the United States.
