Economic Impact
Natural gas plays an important role in our nation's economy supporting millions of jobs, both directly and indirectly. Natural gas plays a positive role by providing a clean, affordable, domestic source of energy. The abundant supply and low cost of natural gas supports American jobs by encouraging manufacturing within the USA. Many sectors of the U.S. economy such as chemicals, steel, and auto manufacturing are currently benefiting from clean burning natural gas.
Shale Gas
Unconventional gas, produced from shale formations across the United States is expected to provide an increasing percentage of our country's natural gas supply.
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is used primarily in vehicles, ranging from heavy trucks and busses to small passenger cars. These vehicles are typically converted from standard gasoline vehicles to run on CNG and offer comparable performance, along with a considerable reduction in operating cost and emissions. CNG filling stations are being added to locations throughout the country, enabling easier access to refueling.

Gas is Efficient
Natural gas is three times more efficient than electricity. About 90 percent of the natural gas delivered to customers is useful energy. In contrast, less than 30 percent of the energy converted into electricity reaches customers.
Domestic Gas
Natural gas is a domestic fuel. About 97 percent of our natural gas comes from North America - which helps lower our dependence on foreign oil and creates jobs for Americans. We have enough domestic natural gas to fuel our energy needs for hundreds of years.
